DFSNZ Athlete Commission Member
Seeking new Athlete Commission members
Want to advocate for athletes and be heard on anti-doping? Do you have opinions on whether you’re tested enough, or how international doping challenges affect you or your sport?
The opportunity
Drug Free Sport New Zealand (DFSNZ) is seeking expressions of interest for two new members to join the DFSNZ Athlete Commission. It’s a great opportunity to ensure the athlete voice is heard across the organisation, to influence change and develop your governance experience.
About DFSNZ
DFSNZ is the organisation responsible for keeping sport clean in New Zealand, and free from doping. We work across New Zealand’s sporting community to protect clean athletes and promote clean sport. Engagement with athletes is fundamental to what we do. We want to build relationships and engage with athletes so that they are leaders in a culture of clean sport in NZ. That’s why we established the DFSNZ Athlete Commission.
About the DFSNZ Athlete Commission (AC)
The AC is a diverse group of NZ athlete representatives from the Olympic Movement, the Paralympic movement and team sports, committed to bringing an independent athlete voice to all aspects of DFSNZ’s work. The AC is independent from DFSNZ, yet serves as a link, enabling the views of NZ athletes to be presented and heard. The AC has a leading role to enhance the mana and voice of athletes.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible, you must be an active or recently retired athlete who has competed in sport within the last 8 years at the regional, national or international level. No previous governance experience is required.
How to apply
For more information, or to express interest in becoming a member of the DFSNZ Athlete Commission, please submit your CV and a cover letter by Monday 25 September to Sarah Cason at engagement@drugfreesport.org.nz.
